Wow, what a great session. Feels so good to be back on a mountain bike after probably not riding for a year or so.
After the howling wind and rain from the prevous night. All was calm today so no wind for windsurfing. I had to do something so rented a bike from a local MTB shop for 10quid.
I was pretty rusty to start with and found riding a hard tail so different to my usual full sus bike. It was bouncing al over the place on the downhill sections and had no where near as much grip as my old Marin.
I just did a 2 hour loop track, nearly almost of it was singletrack with only 1k probably on fire roads so some of the steep climbs were tricky. Some of the downhill sections were pretty good and some areas had no room for error as there were some good 10-15 foot vertical drops on the track side. I had afew close calls and didnt come of which was pretty good going.
Its a pretty impressive mountain bike park with many of the single tracks built by local riders. The signpost to all the world famous mountain bike tracks at the 420metre summit was a nice touch. Coed-yBrenin was 18,200 km away. The views from here were amazing as well and you could see the top of the south island as well as all around the bottom of the North island.
I still dont rate it as high as Nant-y-Arian nr. Aberystwyth though where theres far more mud to play with and some better downhill singletrack sections. Great fun though!
